Bye bye Nai Harn beach...

On the way to Nai Harn beach yesterday, our last day at the beach, our driver took us to the view point overlooking Kata and Patong beach. Amazing views.

Lunch at the beach. I will miss our fruit platter for lunch. Every afternoon around 5 the dogs come down to the beach. During the day you never see them on the beach, it's like they can read the sign that no dogs are allowed on the beach during the day. They are so nice and just want to play. We bought some hot dogs from the food cart and fed to to the dogs... the munched up all the hot dogs in 2 seconds.

Another sunset at Nai Harn beach. I can't get enough of pictures of this beauitful view.

The surfers are waiting for the perfect wave as the sun is dipping in the sea.

Last dinner we enjoyed at the hotel. I love being able to sit outside and eat dinner and it's not even chilly in the evenings.
Australian angus beef for main course and a cooling ice cream for dessert.

After dinner we vegged out on the roof top terrace of the bar. Can't end the vacation much better than this!

Outriger resort Rawai, Phuket

This is the nicest beach hotel I've ever stayed at. For this trip we really picked the perfect hotels. It's modern and very nicely designed and the staf and service is amazing. We feel like celebreties being drived around in the black window Toyota 4-runner with Tommie our driver. It's pretty much the same price as a regular private taxi so why not support the hotel. We stayed in a sea view suite and it's been perfect. Huge open space with an amazing view.

It's been nice having a kitchen. A couple of nights we bought some food and cooked a simple noodle meal in our suite.
With this view you don't want to leave. Luckily we at least see the top of Pilatus from our livingroom in Luzern. So I'm just a little bit sad about leaving... or actually a lot sad. Ilove it here!

Bedroom area. Huge bed and soft pillows. Been sleeping like a baby.

Every night there was a new orchid placed on the bed during fold down... I will miss that. No one folds down my bed cover at home. Anders?

A day in the sun

Hot day at the beach. 35-38 degrees and clear blue skies. Lovely and warm. Cooled off in the sea. Calm sea in the morning but as the day went by bigger waves arrived.

Our favorite litlle smootie place right by the beach. Our standard order is two mango smoothies. They are so good! Lunch today, a huge fruit platter, was enjoyed on our beach chairs. I will miss all the fruits... Swizzy just don't offer the same kind of exotic sun ripened fruits as Thailand does.

Our traditional afternoon massage. Same ladies as the other day. This time we went for a Thai massage. They bend, push, stretch and make you feel so good afterwards. Another thing that I will miss, our daily massages.

As the sun was setting the little crabs came out. This little one tried to run away from Anders but it was to slow but very cute.

My surfer husband! Hottie!

Breathtaking, stunning, beautiful... Sunset at Nai Harn beach is paradise.

Late dinner at our favorite little restaurant near the hotel. The fountain. Authentic Thai cuisine. We munched on home made spring rolls and coconut soup with chicken. Yum.

Beach all day starting with horseback riding

Started of the day with horseback riding on the beach. Beautiful weather and cute horses. They were so nice.

Posing for the camera.

Next up was breakfast. French toast and eggs benedicts. Yum.

On the beach. Cooling off with a mango smoothie and the traditional Tuk Tuk ride back to the hotel.

Dinner at Jean Pierre in Patong

Went to Jean Pierre restaurant in Patong the other night. Cool designed restaurant. Sat inside at the same time we were sitting outside. It's such a luxury to be able to sit outside in the evening and not even have to wear a scarf to keep warm.

Started off with a cooling drink, a mint martini. Cool layout of the restaurant. You could see directly in to the kitchen and above the counter they had a huge mirror so you could see when they plated the food. Here they are plating up our main course. Started off with a lobster bisque and for main course a beef tenderloin with potatoe gratin.

Lovely food and great athmosphere.

Fototriss-Nice and beautiful

I couldn't resist this weks fototriss. Nice and beautiful are the keywords for our vacation. It's so nice and beautiful in Thailand and I don't ever want to leave. The first picture is our nice view from the terrace to our suite at the Outrigger resort in Rawai.

It's nice to be on the beach soaking up the sun and nice to cool off in the water.

It's beautiful and wonderful to sit on the beach with your loved one and watch the sunset in Nai Harn beach.

Racha and Coral island snorkeling tour

Here we are talking horsepowers! Oh my. Went on a speed boat trip to Racha and Coral island.

The first snorkeling stop on the back of Racha island was the hightlight of the day. It was like swimming in an aquarium. Clear water and tons of fish, starfish in different colors and corals.

Second stop was the Racha island where the Racha hotel is located. Clear water and white sandy beaches. That perfect kind of sand that you can build big sand castles with. I had lots of fun on the beach in between the snorkeling.
Last stop was Banana beach. Nice and small. Anders went snorkeling and I stayed on the beach and played in the sand. Just like a kid. Ha ha. I met a friend on the beach, he crawled in my hand and on the sand. So cute. These kind of creaters draw themselves to Anders and me. Tonight at dinner a little baby lizzard fell down in Anders lap. He wasn't bigger then a couple of cm. So cute. He crawled on to my hand and I put him back up in the ceiling. I wanted to take him home but I don't think that would fly with customs.

When we got back to the hotel we went for a swim in the pool and perfect timing, it was happy hour. Tried the Banana rama smoothie. Yum. And then the very berry smoothie. Yummy. After the drinks we got ready and then it was time for the fitting of our clothes that we have order from the tailor. We'll be looking hot! After the fitting we walked to a local Thai restaurant along the main road and ate our favorite Thai dishes. What a day what a day... And tomorrow we start the day off with horseback riding on the beach.

Nai Harn beach at sunset

Yesterday at Nai Harn beach both Anders and I went for a 60 min oil massage just before we were heading to the hotel. You can see the little beach massage parlour in the background. It's so nice and what a luxury to be able to lay on the beach all day, swim and snorkel, play in the sand and then end the day with a massage for almost no money.

We planned on heading home directly after the massage but the weather was still so nice so we ordered some drinks and watched the sunset. Beautiful. I will remember these days in the cold dark winter back home when I need something to cheer me up.

Bike ride to local market

Sunday morning we went with the the activity leader from the hotel to the local market. It was just the three of us, just like having a personal guide.

We did some browsing around. Anders bought some Mangos. The mangos here are so yummy compare to the ones back home. Chili is an important part of Thai cuisine and there were piles of different kinds of chili peppers.

Live fish and dried fish. The dried fish didn't have the most pleasant smell. Jaike, you would not have enjoyed that.

Home made curry paste. Red, green and yellow.

Bought some snackies, coconut filled toasted bread. Very yummy. Ready to go lunch boxes, didn't get any of those but they looked very colorful and I'm sure they were tasty. It was really nice to check out the local market and to see where people buy their groceries. Of course, there are large grocery stores like Tesco and Carrefour but we asked our guide and a lot of people actually go to the market on Sundays to stock up.

One, two, three or four... that's how many people we have seen on one vespa. Kids in front and the rest of the family right behind. This little cutie was helping his mom park by holding on to the mirrors. We haven't seen so much of overloading until we came to the market. That's a lot of baskets.

Deep sea fishing

On todays schedule it was a full day of deep sea fishing. I love going fishing when we are in placed like this. We went with Wahoo's fishing and a group of 6 people. It was a nice boat with a crew of three people. Just as we leave Phuket harbour we pass by our hotel area seen from the sea. Right in the center of the picture with the villas to the right.

Relaxing before the hard work starts. Each one of us drew a number and I got number 3. Waiting waiting...

Yeah baby, I catch my second tuna ever. Last time in Phuket 5 years ago I caught one, this one was bigger though. It's hard work, they fight a lot so you really need to use all the powetr you have.

Yeahj, here it is. My tuna!

And then there was another catch, Anders turn to show his fishing skills. He had a bigger or stronger one on the hook.

Proud fisherman!

We all got to fish at least once. And all together we waught 7 tunas. Passing by Racha island where we stopped for snorkeling and a nice lunch the the crew had prepared.

Anders got his snorkeling gear on. I did to. It was like an aquarium. So many fish. I look forward to our snorkeling trip we have booked for Monday when we take the a speed boat out to Racha and Coral island where the snorkeling is supposed to be the best.

Amazing lunch that the crew prepared. Fried rice, toppings for sandwiches, salad and the best of all... tuna sashimi. This is definately the freshest sashimi I have ever had. Directly from the sea and on to the plate. It melted in yoru mouth, so good. After lunch it was time to go for the bigger fish but no luck. One of the guys caught another tuna. The weather was nice as we left the harbour this morning, entered a rain storm shortly after lunch but then on the way back it started to clear up. Perfect weather for fishing since it can be pretty hot in the sun on a boat.

It was a really nice boat. I can really recommend Wahoo fishing if you're in Phuket. Any boat ride in Thailand talks to you about safety before you enter the boat... not so much. But they have big signs in the marina that you should please wear a jacket lift... not sure what that is. But the advise is prefectly placed next to the Bacardi Rum ad. A great day with cool people on board, and again, I caught my second tuna!

A very angry little man — Deridelik

Our latest addition to our Asian character collection is Deridelik. A very angry little man who farts, just read on his back.

I love coconuts

I love coconut. For dessert after our lunch I ordered a coconut and banana shake served inside the coconut and decorated with a pretty flower. Anders stole my drink. On Sunday when we go back to Nai Harn beach Anders should get his own. I carry my float with me everywhere... well maybe not but at least when we head to the beach. It will have to stay "home" tonight when are going to Phuket town. If you ever stay at this hotel, I recommend you to try to get Tommie as your driver, he's the best. It is almost the same price as using the hotel's driver as it is to use a private taxi service and by using the hotel driver you get to ride in style. A pitch black tinted window Toyota 4Runner. I might wear my sunglasses tonight, pretend I'm a movie star. And talking about stars, so far we have not seen Kimmi Räikkönen yet here at Outrigger, he does own one of the villas by the beach.

Thai cooking class

For the late afternoon Anders and I had booked a private Thai cooking class. Placed in the comfort of our own kitchen. Started off with a green papaya salad. This is one of my favorite so now I just hope I can find green papaya in the Asian food store in Luzern.

Second course was a spicy beef salad. Koriander, shallots, cucumber, tomatoes, lime, palm sugar and fish sauce. Very yummy. And I learned that you never use salt or peppar in Thai cooking, to add salt you use fish sauce, to add sweetness you add palm sugar and for the sourness is lime.

Anders and the chef from the restaurangare cooking the green chicken curry, right after we cooked one of my all time favorite the coconut soup with lime. It was all very delicious. The first two courses we ate once they were ready but the warm dishes we enjoyed on our terrace.

The view this evening was spectacular. A pink and blue colored sky.

Anders enjoying the warm courses. The coconut soup was served in a whole coconut. All very yummmmm. We now have our diploma and when we get back home we will cook Thai dishes like a pro. Fun afternoon partly because the chef and the activity leader was o fun and easy to talk to.

So another day at the beach...

...I could get used to this. Just as I understand why people move to Florida when they retire I now also understand why people move to this paradise when they retire. I think I would like to retire tomorrow... I love this. Building sandcastles, snorkeling, floating on my raft and relaxing on the beach. Life is alright.

Lunch at the beach, a fruity one. Since we had scheduled a Thai cooking class for this afternoon we cut back on lunch. Fresh pomolo, pine apple, coconut juice and sweet treats for dessert. Eating that while sitting on your beach chair it adds to the yum factor.
